Dedicated to Semple
We’re here every match day, supporting the groundsman as he minds the turf,
opening things up to get the bars, burgers and music going, and feeling the
excitement build with the fans.
Protecting past and future
My Stadium Seat is a simple idea we had, to make sure the sports, concerts and events and people enjoying themselves at Semple can continue, for many generations to come. We’re the operators of the stadium, but we were fans first, so we know the real pride fans will feel having their name here. Names on seats will protect the legendary moments – past and future – that make Semple so special.

Stories worth sharing
Semple is a stadium full of stories. Of memories we all have, of coming here as a kid, feeling the town come alive, seeing generations of families take the walk from the square to the stadium, and of watching the legends on the battlefield, lose and win. My Stadium Seat is our way of helping these stories to be celebrated and shared.
When it all began
1910. That’s the year the grounds in Thurles, County Tipperary, were purchased by local Gaelic games enthusiasts for £900. Over the next four decades, the stand, embankments and sideline seating were added, and then enlarged, before the grounds were transferred to the GAA in 1956.

Our famous name
On 31 January 1971, Thurles Sportsfield was officially renamed Semple Stadium and the first finals of the Féile nan Gael were played here. The Féile Rock Music Festival took place here 1990-1994, with thousands of people make the Trip to Tipp from all over Ireland.
In the spotlight
In 2009 our floodlights were switched on and every inch of the stadium – from the Old Stand to the New Stand, Town End to Killinan End – celebrated the 125th anniversary of the GAA’s foundation, in Thurles in 1884.

Even bigger and better
Current capacity is 45,690, with 24,000 seats, but the GAA has plans to welcome even more fans into the stadium with a second level being added to the Old Stand and extra facilities being built for the legends on the field.

Eoin Kelly – Tipperary Hurling Legend
I am truly grateful for all the remarkable and special memories I have of Semple Stadium. These days I love to bring my own children along to the games here and I see the same enthusiasm and excitement in them on match day that I felt at their age. I’m proud to support My Stadium Seat here at Semple Stadium and hope you will too because, every name matters!
